Alfred Hitchcock movies are very exhilarating. There is this sense of thrill that you get when watching them. Also a sense of mystery like there isn't everything there. Almost like when you put together a puzzle and you can sense the missing piece but you do not know what it is yet. The Birds depicts this perfectly. I personally think this is his best work. One theme that shined through The Birds was this mysterious female that tries to prove her self innocent to the males wife of whom she wants to have a relationship. In this movie he took a creative spin on this character proved innocent as he has it in a more realistic way. Having the archetype of the female trying to prove herself to the mom. Almost as if she was committed to a crime this character fights throughout to get the respect from the woman. Another movie Alfred Hitchock uses this in is Strangers on Train. Bruno is accused of the murder of his girlfriend and fights to prove that he didnt kill her. One thing Alfred Hitchcock is famous for are his cameos. In The Birds he comes in one of the opening scenes as man walking two dogs. Its a simple extra role but it also gives viewers an A-HA moment almost like how Stan Lee appears in Marvel Movies. Hitchcock chooses to do this in all of his movies. The big showy climax is one of Alfred Hitchcock's biggest features. This climax helps solve that puzzle piece or it just really gets your adrenaline pumping. In The Bird the climax was when the main character goes to the school to check up on the little girl and they ride away while the birds are chasing them. This also builds up the ending because it gives you a sense throughout the movie that something is going to happen. This helps build up other parts in the story because it gives you a sense of "Whats Next". Hitchcock does an amazing job of using motion shots to control the pace of his films. In the birds he uses a big aerial shot to show all of the havoc and destruction the birds are causing. I believe he used this to show perspective and to enhance the fact of the masses of birds overtaking the town. He also uses moving shots to add a more climatic affect to show realization within the chracter. It gives the viewer a sense that the character is coming to a revelation. One scene Mr Hitchcock uses space and his skill to show whats going on farther back is when the main character in the birds is sitting on the bench and you can see these black spots start filling up the background. This utilizes the birds well because you have that exhilarating feeling that something is in fact about to happen. He then zooms out and shows the birds behind her which enforces the climatic feeling even more.
